Nereyda VALDEZ, M.A.

Learning & Development Director

Nereyda is an accomplished educator at San Francisco State University, working with the university's Metro College Success Program for first-generation and low-income students. With a passion for restorative justice, sustainable community-first solutions, and advocating for and strengthening underserved communities, Nereyda's dedication extends beyond academia. With a diverse background working with nonprofit organizations that champion causes like affordable housing, neighborhood resources, and youth and family services, Nereyda is also experienced in grassroots organizing, intercultural communication, and community outreach.

With a keen eye for identifying process deficiencies and improving operational procedures, Nereyda is a skilled expert in leading and supporting individuals and teams through growth and transformation.

Nereyda holds a Master of Arts (MA) in Communications, a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Communications, and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Classics and Classical Languages and Literature, all earned from San Francisco State University. She is also pursuing a PhD at the University of Colorado, Boulder.

Deeply committed to her roots and community - Nereyda is currently working with the Mission District of San Francisco to advocate for local merchants and residents.
